Pastor Len and his wife Cathy have been enjoying New Buffalo since the 1990’s but in 2011, within feet of their current church building, they were injured in a motorcycle accident that changed their lives. Through the Lord’s leading they began a bible study in an empty Church building in New Buffalo. Within a few month’s began holding Church Services and in 2017 the church building was purchased by Calvary Chapel New Buffalo.
We are excited to expand the Calvary Chapel movement into the New Buffalo Community, the harbor of Harbor Country. We have a blend of worship songs, both contemporary and traditional. Our Sunday Service is line by line through the Bible, always with current application to our lives today. We offer Children’s Church as well as Nursery. CRN consists of 12 full-power FM broadcast stations and several translators throughout Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin covering the cities of Chicago, Madison, South Bend, Valparaiso, Bloomington, Plymouth, Warsaw, Ft. Wayne, Terre Haute, Kalamazoo, and Battle Creek. CRN is a standalone Indiana Non-Profit Corporation that is made up of several like minded Pastors with the vision of helping to equip the saints for the work of the ministry. We currently support Pastor John S. and his family in their work for the Lord at Calvary Mission Church in India, and other local Indian Pastor/Evangelists that are involved in outreach ministries in India. We also minister to about 50 slum children and their families with a daily after school program of tutoring, Bible Study and providing a hot meal daily. The VOM is a nonprofit, interdenominational Christian missions organization dedicated to serving our persecuted family worldwide through practical and spiritual assistance and leading other members of the body of Christ into fellowship with them. "My husband and I have lived in Southwest Michigan since the early 2,000’s. He drove a local delivery route and spent most of his day in his truck listening to Calvary radio. He drove and grew in his Christian walk listening to Pastor Chuck Smith, Don Stewart, and Pastor Jack Abeelen and Jim Motshagen to name a few. Many days he came home to rush in and turn on the radio to finish listening to a program. One day as we drove through local New Buffalo, our heads snapped back and then at each other as we passed the new Calvary Chapel sign by a building once occupied by a local church. I believe we were some of the first visitors that have been attending since the beginning of the new fellowship started by Pastor Len Pera and wife Cathy. We have watched as the small group has grown from those early stages of no sound equipment, a determined little worship team of very inexperienced musicians, and much thought, planning, and prayer. As we participated in many opportunities together, we grew in brotherly love. Today, by the Grace of God and leading of the Holy Spirit, we enjoy a wonderful worship team, line by line teaching through the Word, Men’s and Women’s Bible Studies, midweek Bible study, Operation Christmas Child, and an annual Gospelfest. But our weekly Sunday after-service fellowship meal where we share our burdens, laugh, and sometimes cry, is one of the best times of all. That’s where we continue to grow in love as a very special group of God’s people."
